First Time Post!

Brooklyn was born on September 2nd, 2009 at 9:01pm weighing 8lbs 13oz. She was 20 3/4 inches long. From the moment she was born, I was in love! She had beautiful blue grey eyes that for the first few weeks of her life she just observed with. She stared at everything and everyone.

She has always been perfect to me. She slept "through the night" her second night home from the hospital. Mind you, for Nick and I that meant that she fell asleep with me at midnight, and woke up with him around 5am. She wasn't a baby that spit up, or cried for no reason, she was also very strong. She held her head up at two weeks, and it stayed up from then on.

As she started getting older, she reached milestones right on schedule, which made me happy because she was developing normally, but sad also because she was already growing up. Because she was so big when she was born, she was in the 90th percentile up until her four month check up. When they told me that she was 16lbs 10oz, and 25 inches tall, I was shocked! That day I went home and started researching carseats because at that rate she was going to outgrow it by the time she was nine months old. She ended up getting a Graco MyRide 65, which will rearface her until she is 40 lbs, and then forward face to 65lbs.

Then her daddy went away for two months. Those two months were very hard on both Brooklyn and I. For me I had lost my helpmate temporarily, but it was more than that. My baby changed the day her daddy left. She got very sad and very worried that Mommy was going to leave too, therefore every time I left her sight she cried and screamed. She also struggled with eating. She normally ate four six-ounce bottles a day along with baby food, but while daddy was gone, it was all I could do to get her to eat four ounces three times a day. She also had a double ear infection, her first one, so I had to help her all by myself.

The day daddy came back our happy little girl returned as well. She ate four six ounce bottles that day and also wanted more. At her nine month check up, she had only gained three pounds, putting her at 19lbs, 10oz. An average baby gains two to four pounds a month, yet in five months, she had only gained three pounds. Something else happened at her nine month check up. She saw babies crawling all over the place! A week after that, she was crawling everywhere. A week after that she was cruising around furniture. Brooklyn was done taking it easy on me.

The week of her first birthday, she started walking. Her birthday was on a Thursday this year, we blew a few balloons and had a little cake. On Saturday we had her party at a park. Her theme was Sesame Street babies because she absolutely adores Elmo! Nick's mom even made a tutu for her. It was a beautiful day for  a party and we all had a great time.

It is now about two weeks after she turned 13 months old. Brooklyn just goes and goes until she lays down for bed. She walks all by herself now, climbs on furniture, has conversations with both inanimate and animate objects. She thinks that she can tickle anyone just by touching them. She loves all things stuffed, teddy bears and dolls. She says Ma-Ma, Da-da, Na-Na(Grandma), Paw-Paw(Grandpa), He-ra(Her aunt heather), Gog(Dog), Ba(Bottle, Ball), Da(Baby, That), Ya-you(Love You), Bite, and NO! She has a very large vocabulary for a 13 month old. She also gives kisses and hugs and her little smile can make everything better.

I will be posting frequently, giving updates since everyday Brooklyn is learning something new or saying something cute or something. This is going to be a memory keeper for me, a keepsake that she can look at when she gets bigger, and a way for people that don't get to see her on a regular basis to be a part of her life. I normally going to add pictures with the post, but because this one was so large, I am going to do a separate picture post right now.
